As the cinema and music industries in Cameroon are fast gaining grounds, so too are the photographers, who are definitely resolved to tell their own stories. Only this time without lyrics or scripts, just with lights, lenses and cameras. Just as filmmaker talk of “low budget films” so too do they talk of “low budget photography”.
Renowned Buea based professional photographer Kelly Blaise Achu, unlike William NSAI in Yaounde, with illuminated scenes and well designed sets, uses soft side lights to emphasize and highlight the details and moods of his character.
It takes one with a lot of logic in visual story telling to be able to describe his shots. Mostly all in dark with one light focusing on the face of his characters, Kelly B, as he is called, tells stories through his lenses like Agbor Obed Agbor would tell with motion pictures.
