The just ended Ecrans Noirs 2017 on Saturday with official results of all the categories, printed a very positive mark on the improvement of Cameroon’s cinema standard and content, as Cameroon, the home country retired with more than 3 awards with LIFE POINT emerging best film in the country and MABE MABORE winning a special mention from the juries.
It is amazing to believe that some people still don’t yet know that short people have stability on the ground and can run without falling. LIFE POINT, a film produced by Basseck Ba Kobhio & Nkanya Nkwai and directed by Achille Brice went into the festival with limited confidence at home due to the attitude of FESPACO, when it was selected and returned with an angry-smiling face.
Another major win was the award handed to Chinepoh Cosson, as best Male Cameroonian Actor. This award is not just an appreciation to the veteran actor who merited it for his role in “Yenkong’s Cross” but also a prestige that it is coming from high-status film festivals in the country like Ecran Noir. Others can now follow.
